Venus Williams destroyed top seed Dinara Safina 61, 60 today in the Wimbledon semifinals, begging the question, is that the worst loss ever by a current World No. 1?
Poor Dinara, because I can’t find a worse loss by a No. 1. However, there are a few close calls out there.
In 2008, Serena Williams walloped No. 1 Justine Henin 62, 60 in the Miami quarterfinals.
In 1999, Jelena Dokic blasted Martina Hingis in the first round at Wimbledon.
And in 1979, Tracy Austin beat Martina Navratilova 62, 60 in Stuttgart.
So has a World No. 1 ever matched or done worse than Dinara did today?

People only remember the grand slam losses. Dinara’s is officially the worst lost ever - imagaine at Wimbledon and a semi to boot.
Safina has no business being no.1. It is obvious she is a one dimensional player who cannot run to save her life
Serena is the real number 1 player in the world
