Roger Federer has quietly moved ahead of Ivan Lendl and into the No. 2 position in overall weeks ranked #1 on the ATP tour.

As of the February 22 rankings Federer has now held the top ranking position 271 weeks, one ahead of Ivan Lendl. Federer still trails Pete Sampras who leads all players with 286 weeks at No. 1.

According to my figures, if Federer maintains his No. 1 ranking he will tie Sampras on June 7, which is the rankdate just after the French Open, and then pass Pete the week before the start of Wimbledon on June 14.

The current overall weeks at No. 1 leaders as of Feb 22:
1. Sampras 286
2. Federer 271
3. Lendl 270
4. Connors 268
5. McEnroe 170

Steffi Graf leads all players men and women having held the No. 1 ranking for a record 377 weeks.
