For clarification I’m 100% aware of the typo in the middle. Thank you all for pointing that out. Please stick to the thoughts behind the message

@EricSchlipf @jon_wertheim @BenRothenberg 100% on me for the mistake but if you go through every one of my tweets I don’t make grammatical errors very often.

Let’s not pretend like you’ve never been there. It happens sometimes. Get over it

@Joe__Tennis @_newballsplease @BenRothenberg @jon_wertheim I’m personally totally in favor of the WTA being involved in this. I’m not sure where conversations are with them but I believe it should be a United effort.

    Hey @BenRothenberg and @jon_wertheim ,

I wanted to write to try and provide some additional insight from the players who are in support of the PTPA on why we are in favor.

I would also love to hear your feedback on possible other solutions. https://t.co/IMX9JBRUFB

. @VasekPospisil is a great guy with a huge heart. He has spent countless hours and headaches on behalf of all players. The stress of what you bring onto the court can be overwhelming while under pressure playing. It’s time that the players voices are heard. #playersvoice #PTPA https://t.co/DG3ETQnoiK

I want to sincerely apologize for my behavior on the court in Miami earlier today. I disrespected the game I love and for that I am truly sorry. By way of explanation, I felt deeply unnerved during a meeting between players and ATP executives last night, and.. [1/2]

@operskapevacica @_SHVLK Thanks! I’ve always had great respect for Novak. He is truly amazing

@_SHVLK Just to be clear. I was commenting on his strategy choices and defending the choices he was making.

But to answer your question, if I can’t comment on a tennis match then how many people on the planet can?

@corpiebets @JaredPineTennis And Novak felt that which is why he went Huge on the next 2 shots. Did he miss? Yes. Does he clearly agree with me that it’s the only way to win by taking the chance? Yes

@JaredPineTennis Buddy, he won 2 games in the first 14 games. He might have won 25% of points less than 4 shots, but it wouldn’t have been much better in points of greater than 4 shots either.

@bbc_zamorano First 2 sets were a lack of execution. He’s gaining confidence right now and still swinging away. Making this set way more competitive. Will be tough to keep up, but I think it’s the only way here

@JaredPineTennis Thanks for your stat. Watch the match please. What is he doing? Is he playing safer or swinging out?

    Okay thanks

@NoleFansSweden It’s all about court position right now. He has to find a way to control the baseline. If he’s too far back he can’t hurt Nadal enough

@JaredPineTennis As I just mentioned. Why don’t you watch the match and see what Novak does this set. I guarantee you he does not back up and play safer

    0 3
  • Ryan Harrison (ryanharrison92) - 6 months ago
@JaredPineTennis I know what it’s like to play against Rafael Nadal. If you play further back and safer, he’s not going to miss and he will break down everyone, especially on clay.

Clearly, Novak agrees with me. Which is why he is doing what I suggested and not your suggestion of playing safe.

@Court_Side_w_BT Totally agree with you. I think in these conditions in order to get a win he will have to take some chances

@JaviPulgui89 @CoachAlecSalemU No worries always happy to discuss. I don’t think that’s correct but we can agree to disagree

  • Ryan Harrison (ryanharrison92) - 6 months ago
@JaviPulgui89 @CoachAlecSalemU Although this theory was speculated by some, as you can see that is not the case. Nadal is totally comfortable and is still able to create plenty of power. Novak is searching for answers, playing drop shots, and going bigger/ closer to the line than normal. Very clear so far

    0 1
  • Ryan Harrison (ryanharrison92) - 6 months ago
@CoachAlecSalemU Yes they are. No one feels great when it’s cold but Nadal’s style is more adaptable to the cold. Novak is battling and is in the final despite this being the worst conditions for him. But Rafa is right in his element

  • Ryan Harrison (ryanharrison92) - 6 months ago
Novak’s biggest strength is his ability to play very close to the baseline and take time away from you. These slow conditions aren’t giving him the normal payoff so He’s having to find alternative ways to win points which is why you’re seeing so many drop shots

@greggrosenthal For sure! If anything it should be commendable after all the grand slams they’ve won how they continue to find a way to fight and dig in. I don’t understand the criticism, especially when it’s been proven successful.

Too often mental toughness is correlated with being calm and stoic.

Watching Novak do it his way and seemingly always find a way in the end is a perfect example of how many different ways you can be tough.

Same here man, ready to get back out there. Appreciate it!

@DonaldCookJr Interesting take! I’d argue that when you’re down 3 scores and throw it 58 times vs soft coverage the yardage isn’t that important.

Most Cowboys fans I know are in the tank for Trevor mode lol, respect you sticking to your guns

@BenRothenberg Anyone who is watching can see Zverev is playing more defensive.

I don’t doubt that even Zverev would agree this match has been way more defensive than he intended. But you have to adjust. There’s nothing heroic about blasting 100 unforced errors if you’re missing.

    @MikeCTennis @BenRothenberg Could be 2 things

    1. He feels like he’s being out-hit so he thinks that making the points longer and more physical pays dividends later ( we saw Sinner Cramp against Karen late in NYC )

    2. Hes just not feeling the ball very well today so he needs more space to feel comfortable

  • Ryan Harrison (ryanharrison92) - 6 months ago
@BenRothenberg I’m going to go ahead and default to Zverev on his knowledge of the game versus yours.

When you are 23, years old and worth over 23 million playing this sport the “ Alpha “ confidence is pretty well proven.

@ryanharrison92 Those things happened in reverse order...he got to top-10 and WTFs (as an alternate) because he played four qualifiers en route to the semis of a major. That better?

@imarchello Very true. Many players will make public comments and then say completely different stuff in private. It’s all about saying what you think is a “ popular “ opinion. I think that’s fake and players should be allowed to speak

  • Ryan Harrison (ryanharrison92) - 7 months ago
@Mossback @TennisPodcast There’s a certain unwritten tennis rule that doesn’t allow for fans to get very loud or excited. I don’t like that. If they want to talk in between points, and go crazy for their favorite player, then go for it

@JeffSemonMA The system is made to force players into losing their personality and acting in a very zombie like fashion. Very traditional and uncontroversial.

When you let some emotion slip, you are made to be a criminal. That stigma is what makes it hard for passionate sports fans to enjoy

@TennisPodcast I’d like to see more leniency on tour when it comes to fines, penalties, and suspensions

I’d like to see them open up fan movement and conversation during matches in the crowd, to allow for a more entertaining and watchable environment. Players will adapt and the sport will grow

  • Ryan Harrison (ryanharrison92) - 7 months ago
IMO - tennis has to do a better job of adapting to the times. Whether you like it or not, people will watch and be entertained by emotions shown. We have to adapt, and allow for different personalities.

    * This tweet is a general statement and not related to Novak ruling *
